Celtic & Co. to move to new HQ to support strong growth

Celtic & Co., the Cornish, digital first retailer of ethically sourced, natural and sustainable knitwear, footwear and outerwear, has signed the lease on new premises to support its strong sales growth.

Its new location at the refurbished former “Crantock Bakery” premises at Indian Queens, St Colomb, provides around 24,000 sq ft of space, combining a warehouse with a modern, internal office block, allowing the company to expand its growing online and mail order business.

Celtic & Co. head of operations Karl Headleand said of the move: “The new office and warehouse space is a great step forward for us, allowing all departments to continue to grow. Keeping everyone under one roof helps to maintain the team and family ethos we have built over the last 30 years.”

“Being closer to the A30 means we can have later collections and earlier deliveries, which will be a real benefit for our warehouse team and in turn will provide a better and faster service to our customers.”

The company, whose signature sheepskin slippers had been a big hit during lockdown, had previously been located at Treloggan Industrial Estate in Newquay since 2002, with more office premises added in 2005.

The warehouse had shared a building with the company’s own factory for sheepskin boots and slippers; the latter will stay in the 15,000 sq ft structure in Newquay.

“It is important to us that we stay true to our roots in everything we are doing. It was a natural decision to stay in the area and we are delighted that we found the right place for the next chapter of Celtic & Co. so close to home,” said Celtic & Co. founder Nick Whitworth.

Celtic & Co. recently revealed full year sales growth of 75% from £8.9m in 2019 to £15.5m in 2020. International sales exceeded 31% of all sales in 2020 and grew by 88% year-on-year – from £2.6m in 2019 to £4.9m in 2020, as customers sought comfortable clothing and footwear during the lockdowns.
