Premium British sportswear brand Castore has introduced Joe Joyce, World Boxing Organisation Interim Heavyweight Champion, as the newest brand ambassador for 2023.

The athlete, who currently holds 15 wins with 14 knockouts under his belt, is the first tier one boxing ambassador to join the Castore family. He joins a number of other sports ambassadors including Gavin Green, Eve Muirhead, Sir Andy Murray, Jos Buttler, and Owen Farrell.

Joyce, who won the WBO Interim Heavyweight title in September after KOing Joseph Parker, is now on the way to becoming the world’s number one with an unbeaten record and the highest KO percentage in the heavyweight division.

The announcement, which is Castore’s first foray into the main boxing arena, comes ahead of the Joyce vs Zhang fight at the Copper Box Arena in London on 15 April, where he will be striving to defend his WBO Interim Heavyweight title.

As part of the deal, Castore will ensure the boxer will be kitted out head to toe in its premium performance gear ahead of every fight.

Joe Joyce, WBO Interim Heavyweight Champion and Castore brand ambassador, said: “I’m very excited that I can now announce that I’m Castore’s newest brand ambassador, and the first tier one boxer to join the brand’s roster of athlete ambassadors.

“I’m determined to become a best heavyweight in the world, and I’m always striving to improve and develop my skills, and I’m confident that Castore’s high-performance, technical garments will help me to achieve these goals.”

Sam Lucas, Chief Partnership Officer at Castore, added: “With the upcoming Joyce vs Zhang fight just days away, now is the perfect time to announce this undefeated athlete as our latest brand ambassador. Joyce is determined to reach the next level of his career, which requires a persistence and commitment that we admire, and we’re confident that Castore will help him unlock this potential.

“Castore is a premium performance training brand that supports athletes in a variety of disciplines, including boxing, so we’re very excited to showcase Joyce’s talents as he trains to make his goal of becoming the World Heavyweight Champion a reality.”

According to Sky News, the Andy Murray backed business, which was founded by brothers Phil and Tom Beahon, is working with bankers on plans to secure a significant capital injection. Castore has reportedly appointed Rothschild to advise it on the process. Initial talks with prospective investors have already begun ahead of a formal process later this year, according to sources.

Castore also recently increased the size of its debt facility from £50m to £75m, giving “additional levels of liquidity” to further support the group’s strategic growth ambitions. The increase has been put in place following continued strong trading for the business and strong forecast growth in 2023.
