Casablanca Paris appoints ex-Saint Laurent Director as new CEO
Luxury fashion house Casablanca Paris has appointed Didier Nguyen as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
Nguyen will take over from current CEO Frederick Lukoff, who served in the role since 2023 and is now moving into a senior advisory role.
The brand noted that Lukoff’s leadership guided the label through its formative stages of growth, and that Nguyen joins at an exciting moment in the house’s evolution, as it continues to expand its global presence and strengthen its position at the intersection of sport, travel, culture and luxury.
Nguyen joins Casablanca following a long career in luxury houses, including key positions at Saint Laurent, where he was Director of Wholesale Menswear, Dior and Givenchy. Until December 2023, he was Executive Vice President of Business Development at Amiri, where he played a "pivotal" role in growing the label from a start-up into the commercially successful business it is today.
“I have long admired Didier’s career trajectory and how he is a curator of product fused with sharp business acumen,” said Tajer.
"He shares the same passion for beauty, craft and storytelling that sits at the heart of everything we do and are. We connect on so many different levels of culture and values, there is a genuine respect and I am excited to build the next chapter of Casablanca together."
“Casablanca is a house unlike any other,” added Nguyen.
“Charaf has built something truly rare - a brand so alive with its own identity that you feel it before you even see the name. That kind of soul doesn’t get manufactured; it gets earned. I am deeply honoured to join him and this exceptional team, and I look forward to building on something that, to me, is only just getting started.”
Casablanca was founded in 2018 by Charaf Tajer and takes inspiration from his Parisian and Moroccan heritage.
Tajer, a self-taught creative director and designer, got his start co-founding and working at streetwear brand Pigalle, before moving on to work for brands such as Off-White and Supreme.
While Casablanca started with menswear, it has since expanded to womenswear, luxury accessories, leather goods and footwear. The brand is now stocked in over 350 stores worldwide, including Selfridges, Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdale’s.
