In answer to Lockdown 2, central London’s Carnaby is today launching its first ever 360° virtual tour at Carnaby.co.uk, so people can “experience” its Christmas lights installation – which was unveiled last week – from anywhere in the world.

The mood lifting light instillation is in partnership with landlord Shaftesbury’s charity partner, Choose Love. It features a series of positive words with the hope that “at least one will make you smile,” sharing a message of love and unity in these difficult times. The words include ‘believe’, ‘heal’, ‘dream’, ‘faith’ and ‘together’.

Shaftesbury Director, Simon Quayle, says: "We are delighted to be able to take the Carnaby Christmas experience to the world in this digital way, and we hope that it will encourage visitors to come and see them for themselves if and when they can safely.

The virtual tour takes you in to Carnaby Street to step under the world famous, iconic "Welcome to Carnaby Street" arch, with the choice of either walking at street level, or gliding 10ft high in the sky through the giant pink neon glow Christmas light installation like never before.

Users are able to choose the route they take to explore the world-famous destination in its entirety. After exploring the installation on Carnaby Street, you can take a turn into Kingly Court, which is covered in thousands of sparkly Christmas lights, or visit the cobbled Newburgh Street with its pink festoon lights. There’s also a giant pink lightbulb installation on Ganton Street.

The immersive 360° experience, which is free, includes a live function where the user can join up with someone anywhere in the world to take the tour at the same time, sharing the experience.

TV presenter and Choose Love ambassador, Dermot O’Leary, comments: “Each year the Choose Love shop comes to Soho giving shoppers the chance to do something beautiful for their fellow humans as winter approaches, buying things like blankets, hot meals and kids coats for refugees and displaced people across the world. I've loved being a part of it every year.

“This year it’s magical to see Choose Love in lights on Carnaby street too. It's been a tough year for so many people, so this message of solidarity, hope and connection is now needed more than ever before."

Additionally, on the Carnaby website, customers can access an exclusive online shopping event. It may not be the live annual Christmas shopping event that usually draws thousands of people from all over the world, but each day participating shops and restaurants will be offering a selection of online promotions and discounts.

With over 100 retailers, restaurants, cafés, pubs and independent businesses coming together, each day promises to be “a unique and special experience.”

Carnaby businesses taking part include Pixi, Sweaty Betty, Too Faced, MAC, MUJI and Havaianas, who will be offering between 20% and 50% off on selected days.

There will also be exclusive promotions from the likes of RSNo.9 (the new Rolling Stones store at 9 Carnaby Street), Seven Mor, Superga and Canvas Collection, plus gift with purchase promotions from MÜHLE, A.P.C and ba&sh.
