Calvin Klein reveals Simons’ first collection in typical low-key style

Calvin Klein has quietly unveiled the first collection from new chief creative officer Raf Simons. Calvin Klein By Appointment is a 14-piece made-to-measure collection that is available to anyone to buy from its NY atelier and its introduction co-incides with the staging of the Couture shows in Paris this week.

The brand made no media announcement and Simons gave no interviews but the images were uploaded to its website and an announcement was put out on its Instagram page, which read “A different departure for Calvin Klein. No longer solely for celebrities, rather and open made to measure service.”

Images were shot by Willy Vanderperre with styling by Olivier Rizzo and were accompanied by short quotes from Simons and creative director Pieter Mulier, who followed Simons to Calvin Klein from Dior last summer.

Each look is pictured on the site next to a pair of the brand's iconic underwear, which is a move designed to underscore the breadth of the brand offer. “Calvin Klein is not only about iconic underwear and jeans – it’s about so much more,” Simons is quoted as saying.

Simons goes on to say that CKBA 1-14 (i.e. Calvin Klein By Appointment, looks 1-14) is all about “celebrating the American woman and American fashion”.

“It is driven by character; it’s about a woman feeling empowered and being her own person in what she wears,” Mulier says.

CKBA will launch on 1 April and will be available from 205 West 39 NYC. Simons' first ready-to-wear show for the brand will be presented on 10 February at New York Fashion Week.
