Burlington Arcade in London’s Mayfair is set to reach full retail capacity in the run up to Christmas, as new additions are soon to include Begg x Co and Sermoneta Gloves, joining a raft of recent openings including British handmade luxury goods brand Swaine.

Jewellery designer Lily Gabriella will launch her first ever showroom within the Penthouse above the Piccadilly entrance in November, and other new jewellery brands opening soon include 886 The Royal Mint and CARA Jewellers, with its first boutique in Europe – adding to its current 14 stores in Dubai.

The new openings will bring the Reuben Brothers-owned arcade up to 47 tenants. Other recent openings include handbags and ready-to-wear brand Lalage Beaumont, vintage luxury watch retailer Maunder Watch Co, African luxury concept boutique Merchants on Long and Italian shoe brand Di Minno.

The new boutique from Scottish cashmere and accessories brand Begg x Co will span three floors, and the new store for luxury Italian brand Sermoneta Gloves marks its return to the Burlington Arcade – and to the UK – after 15 years.

Coined as the “Jewel in Mayfair”, the 37,000 sq ft arcade, with a combined frontage of over 1,100 sq ft, runs from Piccadilly through to Burlington Gardens, and parallel to Bond Street.

Reuben Brothers, who acquired the estate in May 2018, have worked to reinvigorate Burlington Arcade to ensure the 203 year-old property is “one of the most relevant retail destinations in London”. Their vision for the property has “adapted to the modern consumer whilst staying true to its heritage and history”.

That has meant curating a selection of the best brands which share a passion for craftsmanship, quality, provenance and authenticity and that are relevant to an international audience.

Head Beadle of Burlington Arcade for the past 20 years, Mark Lord, commented: “It has been great to see the arcade evolve throughout my 20 years as Head Beadle to its full completion this year. The arcade has been on an incredible journey of transformation and we are excited to welcome the new brands into Burlington Arcade.

“Following a series of disruptive years for retail, we find it encouraging to see international brands investing in bricks and mortar in the UK, and choosing to open their flagship boutiques in Burlington Arcade. We are proud to successfully carry on with the legacy of the arcade and to have ensured its future.”

The new openings join an existing selection of some of the finest luxury and lifestyle brands, including Manolo Blahnik, N. Peal, Globe Trotter, Vilebrequin, Crockett & Jones, OMEGA Vintage Boutique and Bell & Ross.

For Christmas, Burlington Arcade will be unveiling an extensive programme of activities, including a partnership with Paramount Pictures UK which will see the arcade taken over with an installation to celebrate a major festive film launch.
