Burberry recognised in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index

Burberry has been included in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the first time, in recognition of its continued commitment to fostering equity and inclusion, both within its own organisation and across communities it works with globally.

The GEI brings transparency to gender-related practices and policies at publicly listed companies, increasing the breadth of environmental, social, governance (ESG) data available to investors.

The index measures a company’s commitment to gender equality in the categories of "female leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, sexual harassment policies and pro-women brand".

Erica Bourne, Chief People Officer at Burberry, said: “Burberry’s inclusion in the 2021 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index demonstrates the positive impact our programmes and policies are having on driving change across our business and our communities globally. We are committed to building on this, continuing to disclose our progress against key measures, while challenging ourselves to find new ways to create a more equitable and inclusive future."

Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg said: “The companies included in the 2021 GEI are expanding the ESG data universe to include gender-related data that investors are demanding today. Their commitment to disclosure is making the business case for inclusion, and driving transparency in the markets.”
