Burberry names new Chief Commercial Officer

British luxury fashion house Burberry has announced the appointment of Gianluca Flore to the role of Chief Commercial Officer, effective 1 September 2021.

Flore, who currently serves as Burberry's SVP of Retail in the US and as its Global Head of Retail Excellence, will relocate to London for the new role, where the company’s headquarters is positioned.

He is set to take over from Gavin Haig, who is leaving at the end of August after three years in the role.

Flore's arrival is overshadowed by the imminent departure of CEO Marco Gobbetti, who announced he was to quit his role after nearly five years in the job and return to Italy to join Salvatore Ferragamo.

Gobbetti, who took home £2.25 million last year in pay and bonuses, said: “With Burberry re-energised and firmly set on a path to strong growth, I feel that now is the right time for me to step down.

Burberry has yet to announce Gobbetti's successor.
