Burberry celebrates fluidity and individuality in AW21 campaign

Burberry has explored and celebrated the concepts of fluidity and individuality in its AW21 campaign, which it has unveiled today.

The video and stills campaign saw Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci team up with noted fashion stylist Katy England and photographers Mert and Marcus and Chris Rhodes.

Playing with juxtaposition, the campaign contrasts raw, classical studio stills, captured by Mert and Marcus, with bold, candid shots, captured backstage at the AW21 presentations by Rhodes.

It showcases Tisci's AW21 women's collection, entitled Femininity, and his men's collection, which he called Escapes. These collections sought to explore the narrative of modern femininity and masculinity and pay homage to "the indomitable force of Mother Nature and the widespread British craft and outdoor movements of the early 20th Century".

"This season is very much about freedom of expression and the importance of exploring creativity. And so, for the campaign, I really wanted to build on these notions and have the collection captured from two different creative perspectives.

"I collaborated with the incredible Katy England on the styling for the campaign to create a beautiful and powerful fluidity across both juxtaposing images, and I am so excited to have also worked with Mert and Marcus and Chris Rhodes to bring them to life through each of their unique lenses," Tisci said.

Make-up for the campaign was by Isamaya Ffrench, Burberry Global Beauty Director, while the cast included models Chai Maximus, Felice Noordhoff, Finn Rosseel, Karo Laczkowska, Kayako Higuchi, Khalil Ghani, Mariacarla Boscono, Mona Tougaard, Nic Minwoo, Nozomu Ito, Rianne von Rompaey, Sita Zampou and Yilan Hua.
