Burberry boosts board with the appointment of Debra L Lee

Burberry has appointed Debra L Lee, a leading figure in media and technology and the founder of women's thought leadership conference Leading Women Defined, as a non-executive director.

Lee, who is also a non-executive director at AT&T and Marriott International, will join the British luxury fashion house on 1 October.

From 2006 to 2018, Lee served as Chairman and CEO at Black Entertainment Television, a division of Viacom. She was non-executive director of Twitter from May 2016 to July 2019.

Gerry Murphy, Burberry chairman, said: “Debra Lee is exceptionally qualified as an experienced non-executive director of leading global technology and service companies and former CEO of the world’s leading African-American media network.

"Debra’s passion for innovation, people and socially positive change will be a huge asset to Burberry as we work together to grow our business inclusively, sustainably and responsibly. We are delighted that she has accepted our invitation to join the Burberry Board.”
