Tomorrow, Friday 19 July, sees contemporary luxury fashion retailer Browns launch an exclusive Tony Hawk Signature Collection.

The nine-piece capsule collection, which takes inspiration from legendary skater and video game icon Tony Hawk’s Californian roots, will only be available from Browns, and features a mix of relaxed T-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts in a selection of colours.

Lee Goldup, menswear buyer at Browns, comments: “In the world of skateboarding, no skater is more influential than Tony Hawk. When we were offered the opportunity to be one of only a few select retailers worldwide to carry his new ‘Signature Line’ we jumped at the chance.

“He signed pro at only 14 years old, and was the first skater ever to land the 900, the man is an icon! His part in the 80s Powell Peralta videos became legendary, and in the early 2000s every kid was hooked to his Tony Hawk's Pro Skater video game series, including myself.”

The collection delivers a unique streetwear aesthetic, born out of skateboarding culture, and has been shot by prolific photographer, Anton Corbjin, who photographed Hawk in moments that celebrate his historical impact on skateboarding culture. The result is a unique set of pieces that “will be loved by both skate fans and streetwear mavens alike.”

Commenting on the collaboration, Tony Hawk said: “The vision behind the range was to give fashion and skate enthusiasts alike a rare glimpse into my life before and beyond skating. So, when the opportunity arose to work with Anton Corbijn – someone who shares a mutual passion for music and raw, unfiltered art – I knew instinctively that the creative direction would be extraordinary.”

To celebrate the launch, Hawk will be hosting a community in-store event at Browns East from 5-8pm on the evening of tomorrow, Friday 19 July. Guests will be able to interact with the skateboarding legend, have decks signed and enjoy music, food and drinks. Tickets will be available via Eventbrite.
