British heritage brands come together for St. Tropez summer pop-up
British heritage brands Smythson, Globe-Trotter and Connolly, all now owned by pan-European private equity investor Oakley Capital, have come together for a pop-up shop running from now until 5 October 2026 in St. Tropez, France.
‘The Shop on the Corner’, located at 4 Avenue du Maréchal Foch, 83990 Saint-Tropez, also features homeware from Italian design house Alessi, founded in 1921 by Giovanni Alessi, as well as decorative art from Fornasetti, founded in Milan by the artist Piero Fornasetti in 1940.
The 7,745 sq ft pop-up space spans two floors, with the ground floor celebrating British heritage with a curated selection of Globe-Trotter luggage, travel accessories and small leather goods, clothing from Connolly - including limited-edition T-shirts and caps - as well as travel accessories, games and stationery from Smythson, including exclusive titled notebooks “inspired by the spirit of the Côte d’Azur”.
Meanwhile, the first floor houses “the best of Italian design” with a café space designed by Fornasetti, a curated selection of the brand’s furniture, accessories and porcelain, and a presentation of Alessi’s most iconic products.
The shop marks the first time the five brands have been available under one roof, “creating a compendium of refined summer style”.
Throughout the summer season, it will host a series of activations including a ‘Personalisation Week’, during which guests can book appointments to have selected pieces gold-stamped or hand-painted by skilled artisans.
Smythson became the latest British brand to fall under Oakley Capital ownership last summer, joining Globe-Trotter - which Oakley acquired in 2020 - and British high-end leather goods and apparel brand Connolly, which Oakley took a controlling stake in in 2024.
Smythson is leveraging the Oakley Capital investment to prioritise global growth, with a specific focus on the US, Japanese and European markets, while continuing to strengthen the UK home market.
