British golf fashion brand Sounder to launch its first ever store in South Korea
British golf fashion brand Sounder, which is the creation of Folk creative director Cathal McAteer and Urban Golf founder James Day, is to open its first ever store in Seoul, South Korea.
The brand, established in March 2021, has signed an agreement with Modern Works, a leading fashion import and distribution business in South Korea. The new store is located in the Hannam region of the South Korean capital and will be the first venue in a national rollout that will see dedicated Sounder stores open across the country.
As well as stocking Sounder’s full range of clothing, accessories and collaborations, Modern Works will also be creating a dedicated Korean website and local social media channels for the brand.
Cathal McAteer, founder and creative director of Sounder, said: “Asia represents a huge market for golf, and we’re delighted to find a partner who shares our passion for the game. We’re looking forward to working with Modern Works to expand the Sounder community to golf lovers in South Korea and beyond.”
Bart Kim, president and CEO of Modern Works, added: “The team at Sounder have an unrivalled pedigree in both golf and fashion. We’re excited to bring Sounder’s modern take on classic golf clothing and accessories to golfers in South Korea.”
Sounder was founded to offer golfers a wardrobe that will look as stylish on the course as off it and is named after the brand of clubs used by legendary golfer Seve Ballesteros in the 1970s. The apparel range includes polos, outerwear, polos, t-shirts, sweats, knitwear, trousers, shorts and accessories and it recently collaborated with Grenson on a golf shoe.
South Korea is one of the most enthusiastic golfing nations spending more per capita on golf equipment and apparel than golfers from any other country.
