The British Fashion Council has announced the nominations of its Designer of the Year Award and BFC Foundation Award for The Fashion Awards 2021. Presented by TikTok, the awards will take place on 29 November at the Royal Albert Hall, London.

Over 1000 key members of the international fashion industry voted for this year’s awards. Their votes have decided the final nominees, winners and Leaders of Change.

Designer of the Year recognises a British or international designer whose innovative collections have made a notable impact on the industry, defining the shape of global fashion. The nominees include Daniel Lee for Bottega Veneta, Demna Gvasalia for Balenciaga, Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson and LOEWE,  Kim Jones for Dior Men and Fendi and Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons for Prada.

The BFC Foundation Award recognises an emerging designer talent, who over the last 12 months has had a major creative impact on global fashion. The nominees include Bethany Williams, Bianca Saunders, Nensi Dojaka, Priya Ahluwalia and Richard Quinn.

The accolades will also include 15 Leaders of Change, featuring designers, brands, creatives and individuals who have created positive change within the fashion industry this past year. These will be revealed live during the award show.

Caroline Rush, BFC Chief Executive, said: “I would like to congratulate all the nominees of The Fashion Awards 2021, presented by TikTok. Following a period of industry-wide reflection and self-evaluation we are incredibly excited to present this new approach to the Awards.

"The broadened focus aims to platform those who are creating positive change across all levels of the industry, while continuing to spotlight global creative excellence. I look forward to celebrating everyone in the company of our brilliant global fashion family on the 29 November.”

In partnership with TikTok, The Fashion Awards hope this collaboration will help to evolve the awards into a global entertainment platform to celebrate fashion’s role at the intersection of culture. Find more information about TikTok's partnership with The Fashion Awards 2021 here.
