British designer Kim Jones to leave Louis Vuitton

British designer Kim Jones will be leaving his post as artistic director for menswear at Louis Vuitton after showing his AW18 collection in Paris tomorrow.

Jones, who joined the French luxury house in 2011, has a love of travel, streetwear and sportswear and these influences helped modernise and raise the profile of the Louis Vuitton menswear offer in recent years, along with his coterie of high profile celebrity friends and supporters. His recent collaboration with US skatewear label Supreme divided fans (though it caused a sensation on the internet and in the media) with some celebrating the move and others saying the high prices would alienate Supreme's ultra-loyal following.

A graduate of Central Saint Martins, Jones' CV includes stints with Alexander McQueen, Mulberry, Hugo Boss, Dunhill, Topman and Umbro. He showed his debut own label collection in London in 2003, having graduated the year before and has won numerous awards and plaudits for his work.

He has been linked to roles at both Versace and Burberry, though neither has been confirmed. According to WWD, no succession plan is in place at Louis Vuitton and its chairman and CEO Michael Burke told the publication: "All of us who have been fortunate to work with Kim wish him continued success in his next venture.”

Jones is from a creative fashion family. Sister Nadia was formerly creative director at UK high street chain Oasis and is now working in Australia as creative director for Marcs.
