British brands given US break via new Showcase at Sears

US department store group Sears has launched a new shop-in-shop initiative called Showcase at Sears to bring a number of European and Latin American brands to the US market - many for the first time. Among those brands to make the list include British men's brand Hawes & Curtis and accessories brand Zatchels.

The Showcases will initially launch in five New York stores this autumn to includes womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, intimates, shoes and handbags. Sears is building a 10,000 to 15,000 sq ft boutique within the existing apparel footprint of each store which will each have a dedicated sales staff. Apparel styles will range from "fast fashion and fitness to contemporary sportswear and professional looks", with prices ranging from $10 to $175.

"We are creating an experience for our members unlike anything in the U.S. retail industry – a fashion-forward, shop-in-shop apparel collection featuring established and popular international fashion brands," said David Pastrana, president of apparel, Sears Holdings. "Showcase at Sears gives our members access to fresh international trends, styles and fashions at an affordable price – and only found at Sears."

A starting list of 10 brands has been chosen to populate the Showcases including Biography (UK/Mexico), Fiorentina (Mexico), Hawes & Curtis (UK), Illusion (Mexico), Jack & Jones (Denmark), LMENTAL (Mexico), Mango (Spain), Mary Paz (Spain), Punt Roma (Spain), 3 Pommes (France), Zatchels (UK).
