BREAKING: Jonathan Saunders closes eponymous label

Lauretta Roberts
08 December 2015

London Fashion Week designer Jonathan Saunders will close his eponymous label, citing "personal reasons", according to a report in London's Evening Standard.

Saunders has run his own label to great critical acclaim for 12 years, and counts Michelle Obama and Samantha Cameron among his customers. The label is sold in high end stores such as Net-a-Porter, Matchesfashion and Liberty and will cease trading once SS16 (pictured above) orders have been fulfilled.

The new comes despite Saunders receiving backing from investor Bharti Pasricha earlier this year, and follows on from similar announcements from fellow London Fashion Week designers Meadham Kirchoff and Richard Nicoll who have also both closed their labels.

Saunders is a graduate of Glasgow's School of Art and Central Saint Martins. He appeared at The Industry in 2011 in conversation with Dolly Jones, now digital strategy director of Condé Nast.
