Boxpark to offer free pop-up to one female "fashpreneur"

To mark International Women's Day tomorrow (8 March) Boxpark Shoreditch is offering a free pop-up to a female-owned fashion or retail start-up.

The one-week pop-up will run from 7 May and to be in with a chance of winning, entrants should submit an overview of their brand and why it would be a perfect fit for Shoreditch to the Boxpark team by 5 April (details below).

Boxpark is the world's first pop-up mall and was opened by entrepreneur Roger Wade in 2011 (a further site has since been opened in Croydon with a Wembley Park site coming later this year). Entirely constructed out of refitted shipping containers, Boxpark Shoreditch offers affordable and flexible leases for lifestyle brands, cafes, restaurants and galleries, and it has played host to internationally renowned fashion brands Michiko Koshino and Only The Blind.

The business decided to launch the competition following recent research which found that 46% of start-ups believe there is a gender bias problem, with the women surveyed expressing that they had experienced bias at all stages of their start-up’s lifecycle.

"We’re proud to play host to a number of successful, female owned retail and food outlets at both our Shoreditch and Croydon sites. So, we thought what better time than International Women’s Day to offer a new, female entrepreneur the opportunity to get amazing exposure for their brand with their very own space at Boxpark.

"Hopefully it will be the start of something incredibly exciting for the winner and maybe we’ll even see them back here again in the future!” said Boxpark retail director Agee Rose.

Entrants should submit their brand information and short summary to [email protected] by 5 April.
