Boohoo reveals TikTok trends prompting fashion comebacks

A new study by Boohoo has revealed some of the most popular comeback fashion trends influenced by social media platform TikTok.

#corset topped the list with 2.6 billion views on TikTok. Boohoo credits this trend to Netflix’s popular regency drama Bridgerton, along with Billie Eilish's Vogue cover shoot in 2021.

Claire Asher, Product Director at Boohoo, said: "Last year whilst in lockdown, we saw our customers were keen to keep their romantic sides alive. With season two of Bridgerton set to air shortly, we would expect to see the romance of the Bridgerton effect continue as we head into SS22."

Bandanas returned last summer with 651.8 million views on TikTok, causing over 105,000 unique searches and a 46% increase year-on-year for this fashion item across Boohoo's site. The fashion brand expects this trend will continue to be one of its bestsellers in 2022.

With over 122 million views on TikTok, cargo pants also prompted more than 69,000 unique searches on Boohoo last year.

Other clothing trends saw bodysuits generate 290.9 million views, tennis skirts 94.6 million views and chunky boots 18.9 million views on the social media platform.

Hair accessories also made a strong comeback with the 90s claw clip receiving over 510 million views on TikTok.

Tooth gems have recently gained more than 159 million TikTok views. Boohoo said that this temporary tooth accessory is primed to be one of the top comeback beauty trends of 2022, with a 5600% search increase for these tiny gems from October to November last year.
