Boohoo makes u-turn on wool ban

Fast fashion etailer Boohoo has reversed a decision to ban the sale of products containing wool from this autumn saying instead it will ensure all wool sold on its site will be ethically sourced.

The Manchester group had last week said it would cease all wool sales following an expose by animal rights group PETA, which had exposed cruelty in some sheep shearing operations around the globe.

However following a backlash from the public and farmers who do treat their animals humanely, the business issued a statement to say: "Boohoo continues to assess all options as part of its ongoing commitment to a more sustainable future. We are committed to ensuring the wool used in our supply chain comes from good husbandry and meets high levels of animal welfare, and will continue to use wool as a sustainable material."

It has said it will continue its dialogue with PETA as it seeks to improve standards across its supply chain.
