Boohoo Group has introduced a state-of-the-art laboratory in collaboration with TÜV Rheinland, aiming to create an efficient in-house garment testing process.

Located in their Manchester head office, the new facility will give the business and its suppliers better visibility of product performance, with a variety of retail testing available to ensure that products meet both the legal and performance standards required.

In a press release, Boohoo said it is one of only two retailers in the UK to invest in facilities of this kind and benefits will include increased transparency, decreased supplier workload, reduced costs, increased speed and agility, internal and external education support as well as improvements in quality, consistency and customer experience.

The Lab also supports the group’s sustainability goals and the targets for implementing more sustainable fabrics into garments.

Boohoo added that the business has also started to buy fabric directly from textile mills and the Lab will allow for those fabrics to be tested on quality and durability.
