Boohoo creates collection made from recycled polyester

Boohoo is continuing its push towards greater sustainability with a new collection – Recycled Collection – made from 95% polyester and 5% elasthane.

Created in partnership with a UK-based supplier, the collection is produced from plastic that would otherwise have gone to landfill and comprises seam dresses, crop tops, body suits, mini-skirts, leggings and wide-leg trousers.

The colour palette embraces neutral browns and beiges as well as pink, baby blue and bottle green. In addition the neck labels, swing tags and packaging are all made from recycled materials.

The range is available now from sizes 8-24 with prices ranging from £10-£20.

Parent company Boohoo Group, which also owns PrettyLittleThing, Oasis, Miss Pap, Nasty Gal, Warehouse, Karen Millen, Coast, Wallis and Burton, has pledged that by 2025 all of the polyester and cotton it uses will be recycled or from more sustainable sources.

Other pledges it has made include improving on textile waste and developing different ways for customers to recycle their garments and investigate resale platforms.

It has also said that its despatch bags now contain more 80% of recycled plastic and is making further progress on making all types of packaging sustainable.

The Manchester-based fast fashion group is in the midst of a wider Agenda for Change programme to improve environmental, social and governance practises across the business.
