Boden has today announced the appointment of former URBN CEO Glen T. Senk as its new Executive Chairman; he will take over the role later this month.

Senk brings with him a considerable amount of international and digital experience, which will help with the group’s plans to double the size of its business and focus on growth from America and other international markets.

Senk is well-known in the retail world, having built Anthropologie from a single-store prototype to a billion-dollar global brand. He subsequently became CEO of URBN, the listed company which includes Anthropologie, Free People and namesake Urban Outfitters.

His appointment replaces Julian Granville, who becomes Boden’s new Deputy Chairman.

Speaking about his appointment, Glen T. Senk said: “I am delighted to be taking up this new role. I will never forget the first time I saw a Boden catalogue more than 20 years ago. I knew immediately that I had come across a unique and special brand – a brand full of life, energy and authenticity. I look forward to working with Johnnie, Julian and the team to bring this successful, extraordinary brand to even more people.”

Having achieved sales of £388m in 2019, Boden is this year celebrating its 30th anniversary. Current trading is reportedly strong, with 10% revenue growth for the first six months of 2021.

The company is planning significant investment to further its growth plans in markets such as the United States, where it launched in 2002. International sales now account for 65% of group sales and the US is the largest market.

Johnnie Boden added: “I have known and admired Glen for many years. He must be one of the best fashion retailers in the world. He combines an amazing creative understanding with a razor-sharp analytical mind. I truly believe Boden can double in size. We have huge opportunities in all our markets but especially in the US.”
