British fashion players including sustainable luxury brands Stella McCartney and Burberry joined forces with the British Fashion Council and the GREAT campaign to showcase the industry’s innovative efforts to tackle the climate crisis at COP26.

The catwalk show event, chaired by the British Fashion Council’s CEO Caroline Rush, was held at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow. The event highlighted the industry’s joint efforts to drive a more circular fashion economy.

Titled GREAT Fashion for Climate Action, the catwalk showcased the collections of several sustainably minded UK designers. This includes Stella McCartney, who launched a travelling exhibition of her brand’s textile innovations last week and British heritage label Burberry, which just announced its biodiversity strategy yesterday.

Luxury labels Anya Hindmarch and Mulberry also joined the event, alongside brands Mother of Pearl and Pangaia (who recently unveiled its new hemp denim collection) and designers Bethany Williams, Christopher Raeburn and Priya Ahluwalia.

Commenting on the initiative, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, said: “The GREAT campaign showcases the best of the UK’s creativity and ingenuity across the world.

“From infinitely recyclable clothing to carbon neutral companies, it’s brilliant to see these British fashion brands innovating and leading the industry towards a greener future. I know many more businesses will work hard to make fashion more sustainable in the years to come and I commend the industry’s resolve to play their part in this.”

GREAT is the UK's flagship international marketing campaign and works with more than 750 British partners across the globe every year.
