Beyond Retro’s parent company partners with Coach to bring upcycling to luxury sector
Bank & Vogue, the parent company of vintage clothing chain Beyond Retro, has partnered with American luxury fashion house Coach on a limited-edition collection of bags crafted from repurposed textiles.
Transforming pre-loved denim and leather into high-end accessories, the new sustainability-driven collaboration aims to bring upcycling and circularity to the luxury sector, with bags retailing on the Coach website and in selected stores for £395 - £730.
Key pieces include the patchwork ‘Cargo Tote Bag’, described as “a spacious and lightweight carry-all crafted from love-worn denim garments”. It features Coach’s signature glove-tanned leather, cursive Coach script embroidery, and its iconic turn-lock closure. Designed with function in mind, it has an open interior that fits a 13” laptop, two external pockets and a removable webbing strap.
There’s also the ‘Tabby Shoulder Bag 26’ with patchwork quilting, which reimagines the classic Coach ‘Tabby’ bag, and the ‘Rogue Patchwork Denim Top-Handle Bag’ which blends Coach’s ‘Rogue’ bag structured silhouette with a unique patchwork of repurposed denim.
Steven Bethell, Co-Founder of Beyond Retro and Bank & Vogue, which is one of the largest wholesalers of pre-loved textiles in the world, said: "The partnership developed out of a mutual commitment to sustainability and circular fashion.
"Bank & Vogue is experienced in sourcing and repurposing post-consumer textiles. Coach sought to leverage this expertise to integrate sustainable practices into its luxury offerings, leading to this collaboration.
"The bags are made from post-consumer denim sourced by Bank & Vogue. These denim materials typically come from discarded jeans that aren't suitable for resale. They're carefully sorted, cut into components (pattern pieces), and then sent to Coach’s finished goods factory to seamlessly fit into their production processes.
"These bags are for everyone who wants a beautiful looking bag with the added bonus of it being circular and kinder to the planet."
