Vintage clothing business Beyond Retro has opened a new location in East London's Westfield Stratford, offering customers a vast range of affordably priced one-off pieces as part of its 'Garage Sale' pop-up.

Open daily until 27 June, the pop-up offers thousands of menswear and womenswear items priced from £1 upwards - with dresses priced at £10, t-shirts at £5 and coats at £12.

Using a network of trained clothing hunters, Beyond Retro scales mountains of secondhand clothes to find vintage items that match trends, working with pickers around the world for the right colours, size, fit, quality, and label.

Continuous queues formed outside the new location throughout the weekend, with customers desperate to find something different whilst also shopping sustainably.

TheIndustry.fashion spoke to shoppers in the queue, most of which were regulars to Beyond Retro's 'garage sale' pop-up concept, with one noting "Unlike most of the events - this one is free. I usually find some good stuff that I keep or put on somewhere like Depop".

Alyson Hodkinson, General Manager of Westfield Stratford City told TheIndustry.fashion: “The Beyond Retro Garage Sale has proved exceptionally popular with our visitors in the first week of opening. Our recent How We Shop research found an increase in consumers wanting to shop more locally (52%) than last year and over half (55%) wanting to be more involved in their local community in general.

“The Garage Sale is a great example of finding vintage London gems at Westfield Stratford City. We’re keen to bring more retailers like Beyond Retro into our centres to provide more circular and conscious forms of shopping to our visitors in line with our Better Places 2030 CSR strategy, so watch this space!”
