Ben Sherman launches sustainable eyewear collection

Menswear brand Ben Sherman has announced the launch of a new “eco conscious” eyewear collection.

The “Eco Green” offer includes 12 optical styles and four sunglasses with styling inspired by the brand’s clothing and heritage, with frame shapes based around themes including Ivy League “prep”, iconic 60’s looks, British youth culture and military silhouettes.

Featuring a mix of colour accents, two-tone metal, angular detailing and lightweight profiles, the Ben Sherman touch is thoughtfully incorporated into every piece. The Ben Sherman British house check pattern also features on the inside temple tips of select styles.

With the urgency for sustainability and increased environmental awareness in mind, the new Ben Sherman "Eco Green" eyewear collection was created using entirely eco-conscious materials.

The bio-based acetate is derived from plant material with the same quality as regular acetate but produced from renewable sources which break down more easily,  lessening the harmful effects on the planet.

The metal styles are made of stainless steel and, not only is this metal corrosion resistant, durable, long-lasting, and 100% recyclable, but all stainless steel is made up of 60% recycled material.

The demo lenses being used are bio-degradable, which naturally and completely decompose in just five years.

The Ben Sherman TAC polarised sunglasses are bio-based and produced from organic cotton and wood fibres. The lenses are extremely lightweight, impact-resistant, and pass the REACH screening test for targeted SVHC (substances of high concern), and filter 100% UVA/UVB light.

The commitment to sustainability is extended to the cases - crafted from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles into recycled felt pouches.

The new sun and optical collections will be available on bensherman.com from late September, and also available globally for wholesale.
