Belstaff: LCM AW16 Review

David Watts
12 January 2016

Since the relaunch of both men's and women's collections in February 2012, Belstaff goes from strength to strength.  Synonymous with outerwear in the motorsport, aviation and exploration worlds, for AW16 the collection entitled "Heading North" is very much about exploring icy glaciers in Arctic conditions and such demands the elements (water, arctic winds) place on the modern explorer.

Arctic duck-down Parkas with fur trimmed hoods featured in a neutral palette. The rest of the colour palette is rather monochromatic with the exception of a reimagined contemporary anthracite and black camouflage print, used on several styles. New this season is the Riding jacket based on a traditional motorcycling style for the 1950s and a slick black aviator leather jacket brought a more contemporary edge to the collection. Technical shearling, which featured exposed leather seam detail, completed the offer.

Under the creative leadership of VP Men's Design Frederik Dyhr, using innovative new materials and key functionalities, the collections offers many options to the "urban" explorer. Using multiple membranes and special linings, these layers can be peeled away for ease and comfort. Wool/nylon fabrics, rib-storm cuffs and water repellent finishes bring the most advance functional weather resistant features to the collection. New for AW16 is a capsule accessories collection, consisting of six bags and a selection of small leather goods in both an embossed and pebbled leather finishes.
