British heritage brand Belstaff has signed to become the official outfitting partner for French football club, OGC Nice, which is managed by former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira.
The brand is preparing a “timeless and durable collection” that will be worn by the Ligue 1 side’s players and staff during all official events. The co-branded collection will be presented in September, 2020.
It’s the first time that Belstaff has partnered with a football club, though the brand has had collection collaborations with former football poster boy, David Beckham, who also used to front Belstaff advertising campaigns.
Belstaff branding will also be displayed on the shirt sleeve of the “Aiglons” – the nickname given to the Nice team meaning “young eagles” – matchday kits, and branding will be visible at the Allianz Riviera club ground, as well as at the training centre and academy.
Belstaff CEO Helen Wright commented: “For almost a hundred years Belstaff has outfitted those with an adventurous spirit, those who meet life’s challenges head on and those who willingly push the limits. Our heritage, tenacity and driving ambition are among our great strengths and we see these through OGC Nice, an historic club with exciting ambitions for the future. We are proud to support Patrick Vieira and OGC Nice as they challenge for the top in the seasons to come.”
OGC Nice president, Jean-Pierre Rivère, adds: “To have a prestigious partner like Belstaff at our side, with our shared drive, ambition to succeed, and passion for adventure, we know we can achieve great things together. Our partnership is a natural fit for the team and we are looking forward to this new journey.”
As yet, it is not clear if any of the products will be available for fans or other consumers to purchase, though it could be assumed that all the replica shirts bought by fans will also carry the instantly recognisable Belstaff logo on the sleeve.
