UK based womenswear brand Baukjen and maternity specialist Isabella Oliver are the latest retailers to join Emmanuel Macron’s G7 Fashion Pact. The pact aims to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry.

A great number of fashion retailers and textile businesses including Chanel, Burberry, Nike and Alexander McQueen have joined the coalition since launch at the eve of the G7 summit in August 2019.

Members who sign the pact are expected to work towards shared goals in three areas: stopping global warming, restoring biodiversity and protecting the oceans. The commitments are intended to be adopted by every company involved, including retailers, suppliers and distributors.

Geoff van Sonsbeeck, co-founder and CEO of Baukjen and Isabella Oliver said: “it’s time for significant change in our industry. We have the power to do better and as a united front we can make that change.”

He added: “at Baukjen and Isabella Oliver the objectives of the Fashion Pact complement our own. We will continue support and work on these important initiatives to drive positive change, doing our best to vastly minimise our industry’s impact to the environment. We are passionate about our commitments to sustainability, working towards a brighter future for generations to come.”
