Barbour has announced a collaboration with British designer Margaret Howell, who will produce a womenswear capsule for the heritage brand for AW18.

The capsule collection will be designed by Howell in conjunction with the Barbour menswear team and will sit within Barbour’s Timeless Originals collection. It will feature three styles all inspired by the Barbour archive which dates back to 1910.

Barbour director of menswear Ian Bergin said Howell represented "classicism, quality and understated style". "She designs for a modern silhouette with a simplicity in cut and shape that creates a relaxed and natural look and we are very excited to be working with her," he said.

Howell added: "As an admirer of The Barbour and living with one myself for many years, I was thrilled to be asked to collaborate with the company. Delving into their archive was a real joy and very stimulating.

"It is great to be working with one of our heritage clothing manufacturers. For me it’s very satisfying to work on purposeful clothing that is well made and made to last,” she said.

Menswear and womenswear designer Howell began her label working from home in 1970 and today has stores in London, Paris, Florence and Tokyo.
