British heritage lifestyle brand Barbour has appointed Paul Wilkinson as its new Managing Director for the UK and Ireland, replacing Ryan Llewellyn-Pace who left the company in March 2023.

Wilkinson has worked for Barbour since 2013 and his new role will be in addition to his current position of Managing Director, and Global Marketing and Commercial Director, for the US.

A member of the Barbour board, Wilkinson is also currently responsible for the overall brand, marketing and commercial strategy for both Barbour and Barbour International across all UK and international markets which includes Europe, the US and Asia.

Since his appointment as Managing Director for the US in 2019, Wilkinson has led the US team to develop the brand and its profitability in what is a key market for Barbour.

In his new role, Wilkinson will report to group J Barbour & Sons Ltd Managing Director, Steve Buck, who said: “During Paul's time with us, he has made a significant contribution to the growth and success of both Barbour and Barbour International across global markets.

“The brand profile and profitability of our US subsidiary has also grown significantly under Paul’s leadership and is now Barbour’s second largest market. With the economic challenges we are all facing in the UK today, I am confident that Paul’s brand experience and business acumen in partnership with and fully supporting both our major and independent accounts, will ensure that the UK, our largest market, remains robust.”

Wilkinson commented: “I am looking forward to taking on this exciting new challenge in addition to my existing roles. I have excellent support not only from my Chair, Dame Margaret Barbour and our MD, Steve Buck, but also from all my sales and marketing teams.

“It is with their support and hard work that we will continue our success in both the UK and US and develop and grow these markets to their full potential.”

Wilkinson’s career has included senior positions with lifestyle brands O’Neill, Protest and Adidas.

This year sees Barbour celebrates the 40th anniversary of its famous ‘Beaufort’ wax jacket, designed by Dame Margaret Barbour in 1983 and one of the classic jackets that has made Barbour a household name.
