AZ Factory, the Richemont-backed label founded by former Lanvin Creative Director Alber Elbaz in 2019, is to launch of two product stories which were “fully finalised” by Elbaz before his sudden passing from Coronavirus in April 2021.

‘SuperTech-SuperChic’ will be available on 12 June to mark the founder’s 60th birthday, and ‘Free To’ will launch shortly thereafter.

AZ Factory also has plans to honour its founder during Paris Fashion Week, from 27 September to 5 October 2021. The event will celebrate his extraordinary life and work, “paying tribute to his creative vision and joyous spirit.”

In a statement, AZ Factory Chief Executive Officer, Laurent Malecaze, said: “The world has lost a legend and the AZ Factory team has lost a beloved friend with the sudden passing of Alber. We are humbled and moved to launch the last two product stories he had finalised with the team.

“In the next months, we will come together to honour Alber with a celebration of his life and his visionary work, aiming to bring the same level of passion and love that he brought to us each day.”

First introduced in the ‘Show Fashion’ at the brand’s launch, the ‘SuperTech-SuperChic’ product story brings hi-tech to high-fashion. Using eco-dyed, nylon microfibre traditionally used in activewear, AZ Factory employed innovative, 3D knitting technology to create woven details inspired by couture craftsmanship. The result is AZ Factory’s signature “athletic couture,” a new approach to formalwear that remains comfortable, breathable, and seasonless.

The never-before-seen ‘Free To’ product story was finalised by Elbaz in his last weeks with the AZ Factory team. Messages of escapism and hope are crafted in bold, hand-embroidered lettering on elevated hoodies, tops, and sweatpants made of eco-sustainable fabrics.

As part of the June launch, AZ Factory will also introduce handbags as a new product category. Conceived by Elbaz to allow women “to freely hug and feel hugged”, the handbags feature an adjustable multi-strap and lightweight chain fixtures for flexible wear.

In accordance with Elbaz’s wishes to support LGBTQ+ youth and desire to encourage all people to be free to love, a portion of the proceeds from the ‘Free To’ story will be donated to the It Gets Better Project.
