ASOS Responsible Sourcing Director steps down

Simon Platts, Responsible Sourcing Director at ASOS, has confirmed his departure from the business after almost 10 years in the role.

Platts joined ASOS as Responsible Sourcing Director in July 2013. Prior to this, he served as Head of Buying at Blacks Leisure Group. Platts began his career at NEXT, moving up the ranks from Floor Manager to the role of Sales, Sourcing & Product Development Manager in Asia.

In a post on LinkedIn, Simon Platts said: "What an amazing time I’ve had over the last nearly 10 years. And what a journey I’ve been on with ASOS. I'm now looking forward, to seeing how I can continue on this journey to influence better in this amazing industry, from a different angle."

Last month, ASOS announced the appointment of Scott Millar as it seeks to shore up its financial performance. Dubbed a "company doctor", Miller will act as Interim CFO following Katy Mecklenburgh's upcoming departure.

This followed a drop in sales for the four months ending 31 December 2022, after being hit by "subdued demand in the UK due to funeral of HM the Queen and postal strikes ahead of Christmas". The retailer also pointed out it was facing tough comparisons to the prior year when sales spiked due to the Omicron COVID-19 variant encouraging e-commerce activity.
