ASOS appoints new ASOS Design Womenswear Director

Online fashion giant ASOS has today announced the appointment of Elena Martínez Ortiz as ASOS Design Womenswear Director.

Martínez Ortiz will lead vision and strategy for ASOS Design Womenswear, driving a critical part of ASOS’s growth strategy, which includes strengthening the business’s own brand offering and expanding the range and availability of products.

ASOS Design accounted for £1.2 billion of sales in its last financial year, and offers more than 55,000 options per year.

She brings over 15 years’ experience across fashion design, sourcing and product development. She has spent the past 9 years as Product Director for Bottoms, Denim and Outwear at Stradivarius in Barcelona, where she was responsible for Stradivarius’ largest Womenswear division.

She was also Asia Sourcing Director for Stradivarius parent company Inditex for seven years, leading sourcing, product development, production, quality, and merchandising across Shanghai, Dhaka and Delhi.

Elena will relocate to London and take up the position on 30th August 2022, reporting into ASOS CEO, José Antonio Ramos on an interim basis, while the process for replacing his previous role as Chief Commercial Officer is underway.

Elena studied Fashion Design at IED Madrid, alongside courses at Central Saint Martins.
