ASOS has promoted Mark Holland to the newly created role of chief operating officer after six years in the business, most recently as supply chain director.

In his new role Holland will continue to lead the Global Trading, Customer Care and Supply Chain functions but he also adds the management and delivery of ASOS’ significant transformation projects to his responsibilities.

These projects include the forthcoming launch and automation of its new Atlanta warehouse; the move to a new retail planning and merchandising system, Truly Global Retail; further automation at ASOS’ Berlin fulfilment centre; and improvements at its London HQ and Customer Care Centre in Leavesden.

He will continue to report to CEO Nick Beighton, who said of the appointment: “Mark’s well-deserved appointment is a reflection of the significant contribution he has made to the business over the last six years and the skills he possesses, which will be invaluable to us as we position ourselves for further growth.”

ASOS says its continued investment in technology and logistics has been key to its success. Last year, retail sales at the young fashion etailer grew by 26% and profit was up 28% at £102m.
