Arc’teryx heads to Manchester for first UK store outside of London
Canadian outdoor brand Arc’teryx has signed for a new store on New Cathedral Street in Manchester, opposite the Arndale Centre and in close proximity to Represent’s first UK flagship store which opened in October 2024.
Opening this summer, it will be Arc’teryx’s fourth UK store and first outside of London where it has locations at 41-42 King Street in Covent Garden – its largest store in Europe, 212 Picadilly and Battersea Power Station.
Sven Radtke, General Manager, Arc’teryx EMEA, said: "Manchester is a vibrant urban hub that serves as a launchpad for outdoor enthusiasts. Its proximity to diverse natural landscapes makes it a gateway to the outdoors and a haven for hiking, climbing and other activities.
"Our goal is to help our core communities get out, doing what they love, equipped with the most high performance gear to reach their goals."
Steve Gray, Head of European Retail Asset Management at Global Mutual (joint asset managers of New Cathedral Street) added: "Arc’teryx has become a hugely popular brand among younger shoppers, so we are delighted it has selected New Cathedral Street as its first UK store outside London.
"Its arrival highlights the continued demand we are seeing from leading brands keen to expand out of London, with Manchester becoming the next step on their UK expansion plans thanks to its growing population and strong consumer spend."
The New Cathedral Street location will also position Arc’teryx alongside luxury retailers such as Louis Vuitton, Selfridges, Paul Smith, Ralph Lauren, Canada Goose and Harvey Nichols in the heart of Manchester’s shopping district.
Scott Linard, Portfolio Director for M&G Real Estate (also joint asset managers of New Cathedral Street), said: "The arrival of Arc’teryx further enhances New Cathedral Street’s reputation as the home of premium brands in Manchester.
"Over the past few years, we have been proud to welcome growing brands such as Represent, and now Arc’teryx, seeking high quality, well located physical retail space outside London.
"With our strong customer base and reputation as the go-to fashion destination in the North West, we look forward to welcoming more new brands to Manchester."
