Anya Hindmarch gives Chelsea store a ‘Tuck Shop’ makeover

Anya Hindmarch is giving its store at 11 Pont Street in Chelsea a ‘Tuck Shop’ theme from 23 August to 12 October, inspired by the look and feel of going ‘back to school’.

Customers will be met with a sign reading ‘Welcome to Chelsea Grammar School’ and a quirky school motto: ‘In handbags we trust’.

With its fresh stationery, offbeat graffiti and school uniform-inspired aesthetics, ‘Anya’s Tuck Shop’ aims to transport customers back to their schooldays via a collection that taps retro brands that will be instantly recognisable and nostalgic, but with a very up-to-date spin.

There will be a collection of highly crafted accessories inspired by favourite tuck shop brands, from Mini Cheddars, Penguin, Love Hearts and Sun-Maid Raisins charms to Kit Kat, Nerds and Skips pencil cases, while some of Anya Hindmarch’s customer favourite leather accessories have graffiti emblazoned over them, just like back in the day.

The Tuck Shop will also be the exclusive stockist of a special striped edition ‘Universal Bag’, in both mini and large sizes – “launching mid-term” (mid-September). Sold as a pair, the look is inspired by the distinctive stripes of a school tie.

Designer Anya Hindmarch said: "'Back to school' were never words that brought me much joy…until now. I have had so much fun exploring the subject of school. The graphics, the graffiti, the stationery and the stash. And this time it is all play and no work."
