Anna Wintour leads fashion's New Year's Honours

Vogue US editor in chief Anna Wintour was made a dame in the Queen's New Year's Honours list which has been published today. Wintour (pictured above), who has been at the helm of the industry bible since 1988, lead a long list of fashion industry figures to be recognised.

Fashion designer Victoria Beckham was named as an OBE, confirming reports from earlier this week, and designer Anya Hindmarch received the CBE (the honour adds to her MBE which she received in 2009).

Others to receive the MBE for services to fashion include Imran Amed, founder of the Business of Fashion, i-D founder Terry Jones and Simon Ward, the former chief operating officer of the British Fashion Council.

From the world of retail former House of Fraser chairman Don McCarthy was awarded the CBE for his contribution to business and philanthropy.

Honours awarded for education include an MBE for Kathryn Parsons, founder of fashion technology initiative Decoded, for services to digital education and an MBE for Angela (Willie) Walters, Programme Director for Fashion, Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, for services to higher education, fashion and the creative industries.
