Ann Summers opens new store in Sunderland

Ann Summers has returned to Sunderland with the opening of a new store, two years after the closure of its High Street West store in 2019.

The high street retailer has reopened in the heart of Bridges Shopping Centre, with the 1599 sq outlet offering a range of lingerie and other specialist products for adults, including new services such as custom bra fitting.

Ann Summers has taken residence in the unit next to O2 and Great Reads, which also recently opened at the Bridges earlier this year. In addition, the new store opening has created seven new jobs in the city centre.

Karen Eve, Centre Director at the Bridges commented on the new store opening: "Ann Summers is such a well-known name and it is fantastic to have them back in the city after an absence of a few years. It’s another national company which has had the confidence to come into Sunderland and which in turn really strengthens the retail offer that we have in the Bridges.

"It is an excellent addition to our retail mix and we are sure that the store will be a huge hit with our shoppers."

Founded in 1970, the British retailer specialising in sex toys and lingerie has over 140 high street stores in the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands. The launch of the popular Ann Summers parties in 1981 enabled the brand to gain continuous traction as a high street staple across the UK.
