Ancient Greek Sandals launches upcycled collection for pre-spring 2021

Ancient Greek Sandals has launched a new collection of entry priced sandals for pre-spring 2021 using surplus materials to help support factory workers jobs during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Upcycled sandal collection has been created in partnership with the brand's factory, after both teams came up with the initiative and agreed to decrease margins in order to offer a more affordable range using surplus leathers from previous collections.

The upcycled collection features six new styles inspired by the Ancient Greek Sandals archive. Although, there are some significant changes in the design explained the brand, such as the stitching and hardware which have been “pared back”  to enable easy production, and more competitive pricing.

The new range will include upcycled designs of the brand’s best-selling styles such as Eleftheria, Mirsini, Thalia and Skiriani, as well as the soft ‘flip flop’ EVA sole, and soft napa leather.

Christina Martini, co-founder and designer at Ancient Greek Sandals, said: “I am pleased that we can continue to support the Greek craft and expertise that goes into creating our sandals, and by using off-cuts we are also taking a positive stride towards more circular collections.”

The new Upcycled collection will be available on the brand’s website from November 2020, and also through key wholesale partners.

Prices for the range start at £100.
