Amazon Fashion has unveiled StyleSnap, a new Shazam-style shopping app, that enables users to take a photo of a fashion item they like and search for similar styles on its website.
The app works in a similar way to the music app Shazam which allows users to record a section music and find the song to download, even when they don’t know the name of the artist or song title.
Amazon Fashion’s AI-driven app is initially available in the UK and Germany and at launch will work on menswear and womenswear covering the categories of dresses, tops, bottoms, shoes and bags.
When providing recommendations, StyleSnap considers a variety of factors such as brand, price range, and customer reviews. The feature will also enable influencers on the Amazon Influencer Program to earn commission on the sales they inspire.
John Boumphrey, Vice President of Amazon Fashion Europe said: “We are dedicated to continuously creating new experiences for customers to discover the products they want and love. StyleSnap enables customers to shop visually for products that have inspired them. We are excited to see what customers think.”
