Sustainable footwear brand Allbirds has launched its first apparel range, expanding its offering beyond footwear and accessories.
To create its apparel line, the brand has leaned into its principals of simple design, selected premium natural materials and a commitment to sustainability.
The result is four pieces, each labeled with its specific carbon footprint, made to look good and be benefit the planet: the TrinoXO t-shirt, the Wool Jumper, the Wool Cardigan and the Trino Puffer – retail prices ranging from £45 to £250.
Last month, the sustainable footwear brand announced it has secured $100m to expand store count and sustainability.
The TrinoXO t-shirt features the brand’s latest material tech, XO, which it described as a naturally-derived fibre made from discarded shells from marine life. It will be available in both men’s and women’s sizing, with the colour options of Natural Black, Natural White, Natural Gray, Sungold, Forest and Orchid.
The brand’s Wool Jumper and Wool Cardigan are made with premium fine, ZQ-certified New Zealand merino wool. Both come in men’s and women’s sizing. The Wool Cardigan comes in three colourways: Charcoal, Natural White and Nebula, whilst the Wool Jumper comes in Natural Black, Natural Gray and Orchid.
The Trino Puffer features an exterior made with a blend of merino wool and Tencel, an environmentally-responsible produced lyocell and modal fibres, and finished with a fluorine-free durable water repellent. Again, available in both men’s and women’s sizing and in Charcoal, Natural White and Forest.
Earlier this year the Sustainability team developed a life cycle assessment (LCA) tool to estimate the carbon footprint of products, identify hotspots, and drive emissions reductions.
Previously, at the launch of Allbirds second UK store, Sustainability Manager Hana Kajimura sat down with TheIndustry.fashion to talk about how sustainability is the core of the business.
All of the apparel items launched today are available online and at the brand’s retail stores.
