Alice Horlick Follows in the Footsteps of Fashion Greats

Industry member and luxury handbag designer Alice Horlick, founder and creative director of womenswear accessories brand AEVHA London, opens what is set to be a very trendy bar in our capital city. Taking inspiration from established fashion masters such as Karl Lagerfeld, Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino or Marc Jacobs, Alice branched out her business in a most glamorous way. The designer is pleased to announce the opening of The Walrus Room, a Victorian-themed bar in Battersea, which she imagined and curated herself.

“I wanted to create a space that AEVHA London customers would enjoy coming to for  the finest alcoholic beverages and curiosities. I didn’t want to brand it AEVHA, but make it its own unique space with its own signature,” Alice commented.

The new bar was named in honour of Lewis Caroll’s poem, The Walrus and The Carpenter, excerpted from Through the Looking Glass. After all, Alice was given her own name after the novelist’s most famous character and has always had a fascination for all things Victorian. The Walrus Room will present an array of artisanal hedgerow cocktails alongside seasonal British oysters. The signature cocktail menu has been developed in partnership with Shaker & Co, who is also behind Shoreditch's Night Jar. 

The conceptual cocktail bar was co-developed by Alice and film producer, Nathan Engerlbrecht. The designer added, “I have always been fascinated by both the Victorian period and Lewis Carroll's works, having been named after Alice In Wonderland myself. Both Nathan and I loved the idea of recreating what a Victorian cocktail bar would have been like had such a thing existed; a place where Carroll might have frequented with a menu made up of homemade cordials and infusions of ingredients picked from the British hedgerow.'"

The Walrus Room at 40 Battersea Rise, London, SW11 1EE opened its doors on the 9th of June and will be open from 6:00pm to 11:00pm Tuesdays to Thursdays and 6:00pm to 12:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

AEVHA London has been garnering well-deserved attention from the fashion clique after being endorsed by fashion icon Olivia Palermo, Brit supermodel Edie Campbell and the face of Fashion One Television and Industry member, Stefanie Jones. The luxury handbag and accessory company specialises in Italian artisan-made handbags of the finest leathers and exotic skins. The house’s signature structural aesthetic, bold colour palettes and textural juxtapositions are quickly strengthening its reputation as cult label.

AEVHA London exhibits at London Fashion Week’s Designer Showrooms and will be showing its Spring/Summer 2016 collection at the new London Fashion Week location in September.
