Adidas to launch AI-generated avatar creation platform

08 April 2022

Adidas is set to launch the world’s first personality based AI-generated avatar creation platform, which allows each avatar to freely roam across over 1500 apps and games.

In collaboration with avatar platform Ready Player Me, the experience celebrates Adidas Originals' Ozworld sneaker collection and produces characters based on users' answers to a personality test on its platform.

Adidas explained that users who have generated their characters can experiment by animating their avatars, digitally try on and then purchase sneakers from the collection, and download their Ozworld avatars to deploy as stickers and GIFs across social media.

Ready Player Me’s technology will also allow users to explore different virtual metaverse worlds with a single identity, creating "a truly open and optimistic metaverse for all".

In a press release, Adidas said: "Each unique avatar will be able to traverse the web through a bespoke partnership with Ready Player Me. This is the first brand partnership that pushes the limits of the platform - offering interoperability in generative avatars with over 1,500 different metaverse apps and games."

Whilst the experience was expected to launch today, Adidas has delayed the launch of the avatar experience to an unknown date due to "unexpected technical challenges".

Early access to experience will be offered to AdiClub Members and adidas NFT holders via a unique URL, with the first instalment of avatars arriving on 28 April across the metaverse.
