Adidas sees UK sales rise in FY21 results

Adidas UK has filed its results for the year ending 31 December 2021, revealing a 23.6% increase in sales to £1.29 billion.

This revenue included a sales increase of £207.7 million in wholesale, £13.8 million in retail stores and £24.7 million in its ecommerce channel.

Adidas said its improved performance represents a return to normal trading levels following the effects of COVID-19 on sales in 2020.

Profit before tax increased by 63.6% to £39.8 million, driven by a higher revenue figure.

The group's number of employees rose to 1,294, from 1,146 the year before.

Pandemic-related challenges from 2020 continued to impact Adidas sales in the first quarter of 2021. However, the group highlights that a "good recovery" in consumer confidence and continued customer desire for sports-inspired appeal on footwear saw sales increase in the rest of the year.

Adidas also added that 2022 started with many challenges, including "significant rises" in consumer prices and the war in Ukraine. Despite this, the group's 2022 outlook remains positive and it continues to expect growth.
