Adidas and FARM Rio unveil latest collection celebrating 10 years of collaborating
Adidas and FARM Rio have unveiled their latest collaboration collection in celebration of 10 years of joining forces.
The collaboration is one of Adidas' longest running partnerships, alongside other big names including Stella McCartney and Yohji Yamamoto.
In the 10-year commemorative collection, "tropical Brazil merges with the world’s most iconic three stripes", showcasing a variety of creations that reflect the essence of both brands.
A major highlight is the return of Adidas Originals, which was part of the first collaboration launch in 2014 and is now back with 20 standout pieces, including the classic ‘Firebird’ jacket, reinvented with new prints.
In addition to clothing, the collection features a sportswear line with various accessories such as a backpack, a cap and a football for ‘altinha’ – the Brazilian group ‘keepy uppy’ beach game.
An accompanying campaign video that "celebrates a decade of creativity and partnership" features real athletes dressed in vivid prints, floating above a sand platform tethered to a hot air balloon while playing altinha.
Created without the use of AI, and with the help of expert skydivers who specialise in ballooning, the campaign creates a scene that captures the energy of both brands. Additional beach scenes feature models also playing altinha, enhancing the campaign’s lively spirit.
Tim Smeets, Senior Product Manager at Adidas, said: "We are incredibly proud of the long-term partnership with FARM Rio and the unique journey we have been on together. From vibrant streetwear in Originals, refreshing the Adidas sportswear and training offer, connecting FARM Rio’s nature inspired prints with our outdoor products, distinctive swimwear for beaches and pools across the globe, to leveraging the shared love for football in collaboration with the iconic Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (the football club more commonly referred to simply as Flamengo – based in Rio).
"It’s an absolute privilege to work with such a talented, kind, open-minded, and experienced team for 10 years. The exchange of expertise enables us to create best in class products for the consumer who likes to dress in happiness while maintaining an active lifestyle."
Daniela Moritz, Head Designer at FARM Rio, added: "The partnership between Adidas and FARM Rio has endured for so long because it is a true fusion of creative forces that complement each other in extraordinary ways. While Adidas brings urban dynamism and innovative fabric technology, FARM Rio adds vibrant colours and lush tropical prints.
"Together, Adidas and FARM Rio created a perfect balance between street attitude and contagious joy, reflecting a powerful synergy that has captivated and inspired for a long time. It has been fascinating to see how this partnership has grown over the past 10 years and how we've been able to innovate in the design of the pieces."
The Adidas x FARM Rio collection launches online and in selected stores today, 10 October, with prices ranging from £28 - £99.
A complementary capsule of classic FARM Rio silhouettes is also launching alongside the collaboration collection.
FARM Rio is a fashion and lifestyle brand that captures the true essence of Brazil with a playful mix of prints and radiant colours. It was founded by Katia Barros and Marcello Bastos in 1997 as a small marketplace booth in Rio and has since become a household name in Brazil, with over 2,000 employees and more than 100 stores across the country.
The brand began its global expansion in 2019 with the opening of its flagship boutique in Soho, New York. It now has four US boutiques – in Miami, Venice and West Hollywood, as well as New York, with a fifth to be added in Brooklyn later this year. It also has four boutiques in Europe - in London, Paris, Mykonos and Bodrum, as well as one in Dubai.
FARM Rio is part of AZZAS 2154 Group, Latin America's largest fashion retail group. Since its US launch in 2019, the brand has prioritised sustainable initiatives and donates a thousand trees to be planted in Brazil’s biomes each day through its programme "1,000 trees a day, every day".
