Activists target Balenciaga's Bond Street amid campaign controversy

Activists have targeted Balenciaga's store on Bond Street, branding the word ‘paedophile’ on its once-glossy windows.

The brand is currently under fire for publishing an advertising campaign that activists have claimed features inappropriate images of children holding teddy bears and BDSM inspired outfits.

The scandal escalated when it was revealed that a previous campaign had featured copies of documents from the Supreme Court case United States v Williams, a ruling that increased federal protections against pornography featuring minors.

The fashion house has since admitted the campaigns "reflect a series of grievous errors for which Balenciaga takes full responsibility".

The activist responsible for defacing the store was a man wearing a yellow vest and a bobble hat. He was spotted plastering a vinyl sticker with the word ‘paedophile’ across the shop windows on Thursday evening.

Brand ambassador Kim Kardashian recently took to Twitter, informing followers that she had been "shaken by the disturbing images [and] any attempts to normalise child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period." She confirmed she is "re-evaluating" her relationship with the company.
