Accessories marketplace Katchin expands into Europe

Katchin, the global marketplace for accessories, jewellery and watches, is making the move into Europe following its launch in the UK earlier this year.

The platform has launched in France and Germany bringing its editorially led offer to the fashion-savvy consumer in a bit to capitalise on a growing market, which its says is predicted to grow by 5%-7% this year, according to Euromonitor.

"Earlier this year, Katchin transformed the online shopping experience by launching the first-ever marketplace created specifically for jewellery and watches in the UK. Katchin is built on the Mirakl marketplace platform and has the backing of Fossil Group, the global design, marketing, distribution business, which specialises in lifestyle accessories and which has a large portfolio of own brands and licenses in its market, including Armani Exchange, Diesel, DKNY, Emporio Armani, Kate Spade New York, Michael Kors, and Tory Burch.

The Katchin platform houses 80 brands, from established to up-and-coming names, and in the four months since its launch in the UK it has onboarded global powerhouses such as Roberto Cavalli and Sif Jakobs.

Mirakl CEO and Co-founder Adrien Nussenbaum said the rise in marketplaces offer brands an "asset-light: route to new sectors and markets. "Fossil Group is at the forefront of [the marketplace] trend with Katchin, bringing the first curated marketplace for jewellery and watches to new audiences in Germany and France – just a couple of months after the initial launch in the UK.
