Former French professional handball player Henri Tai is set to launch a content and shopping destination for men's sportswear. SportyHenri.com will feature brands and content curated by Tai and his network of world-class athletes.

Due to launch early this month the site will cover eight sports categories including basketball, track & field, golf, water sports, football, triathlon and running. The brand mix covers global names such as Adidas and Puma as well as niche brands such as Ashmei and Athletic Propulsion Labs.

SportyHenri.com is promising a "true meeting of meaningful editorial and commerce in a rich, multimedia experience where inspiring content direct from sports experts can be found alongside a considered edit of performance sportswear and equipment." Tai's network or "Les amis d'Henry" will share training advice, coaching and fitness regimes as well as their picks of the best kit and equipment.

"For me comfort has always led to confidence, and confidence has always led to improved performance," said Tai. "Therefore, it seemed only natural for me to create an offering whereby an athlete can choose the best technical sportswear to equip themselves and thus enabling them to train and perform at the top of their game. From this Sporty Henri was born."

The site offers a next day delivery service to France, Germany, UK, Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium, with further territories to be added later in the year.

SportyHenri.com comes on the back of a boom in interest in sportswear and the so-called "athleisure" trend. Last week singer Beyoncé unveiled Ivy Park, her own performance and athleisure line produced in collaboration with Topshop chief Sir Philip Green, and Selfridges unveiled its Body Studio, a dedicated department online and at its London Oxford Street flagship store, which focuses on activewear. The Selfridges Body Studio will be one of the first stockists of the Ivy Park line.
